The research in the Wu Lab integrates synthetic chemistry with biochemistry to explore the relevance of glycosylation to human disease. Cell surface glycans are involved in a variety of physiological processes, including angiogenesis, fertilization and neuronal development. Changes in glycosylation mark the onset of cancer and inflammation. The major goal of my lab is to develop chemical biology platforms to image glycans in cancer cells and living organisms with excellent sensitivity, exquisite selectivity and spatial and temporal resolution. We are also interested in chemical tools that can be used to selectively enrich glycoprotein for their molecular identification. Specialties: drug discovery, imaging, proteomics, glycobiology
