We are the collective voice of our industry and seek to take a leadership position in the regulatory, best practice and education aspects of CRE finance, as well as organising informative and networking events for market participants. I previously spent five years as British Property Federation Finance Policy Director, responsible for formulating and articulating industry views on finance, tax and regulation. These ranged from promoting Tax Increment Finance and REITs to exploring the implications of the property debt overhang and trying to protect the industry from inappropriate financial regulation. I was also company secretary and had internal finance director responsibilities. From late 2012 I was a member of the Real Estate Finance Group and was the principal author of its May 2014 report, A Vision for Real Estate Finance in the UK (available at http://www.ipf.org.uk/industry-involvement/a-vision-for-real-estate-finance-in-the-uk.html). Work on some of its recommendations continues under the auspices of the Property Industry Alliance. Before the BPF, I spent eight years in the City as a tax lawyer, focusing particularly on property finance. I am very interested in public policy, business strategy and international affairs both from the commercial real estate angle and more generally. I have been a school governor for many years at two different schools and am keen to contribute to making our world a better place.
