My career has taken me from energy production in the form of gas & oil exploration, through to energy efficiency by the effective design of mechanical and electrical systems and then on to a mix of both of these where the reduction of energy usage and the decentralised generation of energy are becoming two sides of the same coin. I have been privileged to have worked in such a diverse array of industries and in such an extensive number of sectors using knowledge from my degree in Chemical Engineering, my training in energy production with Schlumberger, more than 20 years of practical experience in Building and Process systems design and my site experience as a Low Carbon Consultant Sectors I have worked in include oil & gas, manufacturing, hotels, retail, data centres, Telecoms, industrial manufacturing and pharmaceutical both from a technical aspect as well as in business development and commercial management. More recently, my experience with Dynamic Simulation Modelling has enabled me to extend our company's depth and diversity in producing simulations and reports for the purposes of planning, BREEAM and LEED assessments and Building Regulations as well as in predicting annual energy & CO2 savings for different options of energy efficiency and renewable energy designs. Leading sustainability teams, I have worked on some highly innovative projects which include such technologies as Energy from Waste, Below Ground Thermal Storage, site-wide waste heat schemes and Bio-gas production, all underpinned by a solid engineering design and project management base. I work on the principle that every project is different and each one deserves the same dedication and imagination in order to provide the smartest, simplest, most functional and cost efficient solution using the best application of technologies within the most effective systems. It takes some managing but the challenge makes the job worthwhile.
