Philani is an Investment Manager at Founders Factory Africa where he is currently focused on building and scaling Fintech, Healthtech and Agritech ventures in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to FFA, Philani was involved in derivative-backed structured investment products, private equity, and venture capital transactions across the agriculture, FMCG, property, telecommunications, media, technology, industrial and financial services sectors. He previously held roles at the Public Investment Corporation, Nisela Capital, PAPE Fund Managers and Edge Growth. Philani is a Chartered Development Finance Analyst. In addition, he is an alumni of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community. Philani holds a BCom (Hons) in Investments and Corporate Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand and a MPhil in Development Finance from Stellenbosch Business School. He has contributed to academia through papers focused on behavioural finance and savings behaviour in sub-Saharan Africa. Philani is passionate about financial access initiatives in Africa and their potential to be used as a platform for socio-economic change and building an inclusive African economy.
