Joana Feijó holds a degree in Microbiology from the Portuguese Catholic University, a master's degree in Basic and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute from the Oporto University. Near 12 years of her professional career were spent in the private sector working on business strategy, product development and commercialization, specifically in the Healthcare industry. She has developed several skills in diverse areas of activity being the most relevant ones, International Business Development, Product Development and Innovation Management. During the last 3 years Joana has been developing a tech start-up company on the Tourism area aside with a few consultancy projects on the Healthcare sector. Joana worked at CRITICAL Group between 2009-2015, where she has passed through different companies during those years: from Critical Health & Oncaring (Diabetic Retinopathy Decision Support IT tool & Senior assisted living IT tools), through Critical Software (Clinical information repository and data analysis) to Coimbra Genomics (clinical decision support system based on a patient's whole genome sequence). Before joining CRITICAL Group, Joana has worked three years at ALERT Life Sciences Computing, S.A. as the Director of Clinical Content Department and Functional Analysis Department. During those years, she has worked on the company internationalization to the Brazilian, USA, UK and Netherlands markets, being responsible for national and international teams regarding software development and market customization. She was also managing the Medical consultancy team for clinical content production and management. Before ALERT, and while doing her PhD on the Tuberculosis area, she was an Associate Professor lecturing Biochemistry, Biophysics and Microbiology on a Portuguese University. Since November 2018, Joana is part of the Health Cluster Portugal (HCP) Executive team as Business Development Director.
