I am a Scientist in the pharmaceutical development group at Genentech. Prior to joining this group, I was involved in areas of ocular drug delivery at Genentech, where I worked with outstanding teammates on innovative biomaterial systems like PLGA based long acting delivery for large molecule proteins, including the recent ranibizumab implant formulation used to treat wet age-related macular degeneration. I am a trained chemical engineer specializing in polymer biomaterials, surfactants, and areas of drug delivery. I received my master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where I completed my thesis work with Prof. Harry Bermudez, exploring fundamental drug delivery concepts in the polymer science department at UMASS. I received my undergraduate degree in Chemical Technology from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai specializing in olechemical and surfactant science. I am also an avid outdoor explorer and road cyclist, with a never ending adventure in culinary tastes and coffee. Lately, I have also been exploring various challenges of pharmaceutical drug delivery and its applied areas that I can expand in my career interests. I strongly believe as scientists our scientific understanding is rooted in the natural environment and scientific diaspora we grow and work with. That it can only get better with openness, humility and empathy with willingness to re-examine our old believes and challenging our thought processes while on this life's journey . As a healthcare scientist, I am interested in trying to understand what factors hold a pharmaceutical formulation and its delivery technology together, through a process development career. Because this will guide us about how to formulate future generations of biologics for ease of therapeutic delivery and effectiveness.
