Rex Guo is an experienced engineering leader and hacker at heart. He makes internet a more secure place by building innovative products. He has 13+ years of work in software and security engineering, machine learning, research & development. He currently works as a Principal Engineer at Lacework (backed by Sutter Hill ventures, etc.). He leads new data-driven product research and development and uncovers new threat vectors in the cloud. Previously, he worked as the Head of Research at Confluera (backed by Lightspeed, Icon ventures, etc). Confluera XDR deterministically sequence all execution behaviors and build real-time attack narratives across the infrastructure. He led the projects that build the cloud and container threat storyboarding product. Before that, he worked as a Technical Lead/Engineering Manager at Tetration (acquired by Cisco). Tetration built massively scalable cloud workload protection platforms. He was a founding member of the cloud workload protection product. The product protected millions of workloads in thousands of enterprise customers’ environments with its kernel-level visibility and machine learning approach. Before Cisco Tetration, he was a Senior Security Researcher at Intel Corporation where he worked on mobile and IoT platform security. Most notably, he led and represented the Intel team to secure millions of iPhones where Intel cellular modems are used. He has authored 30+ patents and publications. He has presented multiple times at Black Hat, DEFCON and others conferences. He is also a MITRE ATT&CK contributor and has disclosed vulnerabilities in critical open source software.
