Throughout my 30-year career I have leapt at often-demanding opportunities to tell stories, found and build businesses, empathetically lead literally and cognitively diverse teams and generally challenge prevailing narratives with solid facts, sound arguments and, where appropriate, good humor. I co-founded and ran Breakingviews, now the leading global financial commentary brand of Thomson Reuters; I dove headlong into the role of chief communications officer at Credit Suisse during the systemically important bank's greatest hour of need; and I banded with members of my Connecticut hometown after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre to create and eventually chair a non-profit and advocacy group to fight gun violence in America. All this has allowed me to live and work in cool places, including New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Milan, Zurich, Chicago, Vermont and, next up, Rome, and to meet interesting people who genuinely give a damn. Next chapters are still to be written. Ideas welcome.
