I love building things, always have, from the model railroads and planes of my childhood to the software systems of the present day. I still think of myself as an algorithmist and software systems designer and developer, though my career has taken me more into leadership and management. Still, I get to be part of an organization that builds and operates truly incredible, massively distributed, and massively scalable software systems, systems that enable and secure the online experiences for our customers. Now as CTO, I bring to the job more than 20 years of experience at Akamai. I am responsible for guiding and developing the company's technology and innovation strategy to capitalize on growth opportunities in areas such as 5G, IoT, edge computing, zero trust, and other emerging technologies. This responsibility includes working closely with our largest customers and convening technology leaders within the company to catalyze innovative solutions for companies on their digital transformation journey. Prior to Akamai, I was Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas. I am well published in the areas of algorithms and systems for highly distributed and parallel computing. I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT and my Sc.B. from Brown University. Views expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.
