Executive/Senior Researcher with extensive expertise in preclinical pharmacology and over 20 years of industry experience in preclinical research and development leading discovery research and development groups. Established multidisciplinary research and development programs, including in vitro and in vivo screens in support of discovery research and development in oncology, stem cell therapeutics, cardiovascular and immunological indications. Co-founder, Telomax Pharma, Inc., a privately held company targeting age-related diseases through modulation of telomerase. Held positions of leadership in research and development for oncology, stem cell, cardiovascular, anti-aging and immunology-based therapeutics. Served as Vice President of Research and Development at Cellerant Therapeutics, overseeing the oncology program from discovery through IND nomination and the stem cell program for the treatment of neutropenia and thrombocytopenia through Phase I/II trials. He was Executive Director and head of Research at Geron Corporation, responsible for the preclinical research and development oncology unit consisting of Discovery Research & Pharmacology, Bioanalytical/PD assay, Toxicology and ADME divisions with 8 Ph.D./M.D. Scientist/Director-level and 10 MS/BS Research Associate/Technician-level personnel. He has also held senior positions at Matrix Pharmaceuticals and Chiron. He served as reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, including Cancer Research, International Journal of Cancer, Clinical and Experimental Metastasis, Journal Cellular Biochemistry and International Journal of Pharmaceutics as well as co-authoring over 30 scientific publications and book chapters and inventor on multiple patents.
