Ruth P Briones is a Sustainability Expert, acknowledged climate leader and author. She has long years of experience working for sustainable development, directly involve in environment and natural resources development, namely: reforestation projects, mineral resources, waste management, public private partnerships projects on energy with the private sector and the Government and policy formulation and project development of renewable energy. Ruth is one of the authors of Berkshire Encyclopedia of Sustainability, Volume VII on Public-Private Partnerships. She authored the framework of a Zero Waste Agenda as scheme for circular economy for the ASEAN and was a practicing journalist in the Philippines in the 90's, writing investigative articles on the environment, natural resources and community development. Under Ruth’s direct supervision and leadership, she is developing a large capacity of Renewable Energy projects in the Philippines and some ASIAN countries particularly utility solar projects, off grid hybrid solar, biomass and hydropower. After working with the Philippine Government for 25 years and with Asian Development Bank, she is into sustainable environment, climate change mitigation and energy development, policy formulation and researches. Ruth, as climate engineer and sustainability legal expert, she was declared as one of the 50 Global Sustainability Superstars during the 2015 World’s Sustainability Congress in Mauritius in December 8, 2015, and was conferred the “Sustainability Leadership Award in the same event; she was listed and presented as one of the Most Impactful Green Leaders, Global Listings, during the 2016 World CSR Congress in Mumbai, India. In 2017, she was presented the Sustainability Leadership Excellence Award by the International Management Excellence Council. She was lately presented the 2020 Asia's Top Sustainability Superwomen by an independent organization, www.csrworks.com. Ruth has been regarded as one of Asia’s Renewable Energy Icons and sustainability superwoman.
