I am a bold and visionary software leader, open source pioneer, and rare disease drug developer! I build software in the day and disrupt biotech industry in the night/weekends. Professionally, I have built and launched successful open source projects at companies like Amazon. Personally, I was just a nobody until my son was born with an ultra-rare disease that has no treatments. I made tremendous progress in short order and found several drugs to help my son. I am now starting a new non-profit open source initiative called OpenTreatments to build a software platform that will help bring treatments to 1000s of rare diseases affecting 400 million patients worldwide. I have 10+ years of engineering and leadership experience building products that are used by millions of people worldwide. Previously, I built and launched AWS SAM, an open source product that ended up becoming the industry-standard for serverless application development on AWS. I am now leading a team of cross-functional engineers and leaders at Amazon to build the best-in-class healthcare product designed to make high-quality healthcare easy to access. *Speaker*: - GlobalGenes unSummit 2020 - Rare Disease Innovation & Partnering Summit 2020 - Open Source Software Conference (OSCON) 2019 - AllThingsOpen 2018 - Geekwire Cloud Tech Summit 2018 - Podcast at www.raisingrare.fm *Leader*: - Founder & CEO of OpenTreatments Foundation, a non-profit organization to to use open source software to develop treatments for 1000s of rare diseases affecting millions of patients - 8+ years of software development and leadership experience - Actively managed teams of cross-functional engineers and managers for large multimillion dollar projects *Open Source*: - Creator of AWS SAM project, with over 13,000 Stars on Github and used by thousands of software developers - Founder of RareCamp project, a Linux Foundation initiative to bring treatments to 1000s of rare diseases affecting millions of patients
