Cancer care today is defined by fear and uncertainty but we are on the cusp of a new age when AI diagnostics and targeted treatments will mean that the very word cancer will have new meaning. As Chief Strategy Officer at Kheiron Medical, I am privileged to be working with an incredibly talented deep learning team to help breast cancer patients live longer, better lives through earlier detection. I also led the team that won one of the first UK Government AI Awards, a £15M prize that is supporting the deployment of Mia, our breast screening technology, to 15 NHS hospitals. Before moving back to London I lived in Silicon Valley for 15 years where I learned from some of the great inventors of our age, including members of the original Mac team. Recent career highlights include collaborating with the Cancer Moonshot team at the White House and co-founding a grassroots collaboration called Precision Medicine for Me to help patients navigate this new era of cancer medicine. I am also a great believer in the power of stories to heal and to help bring change in our world which is why I have devoted part of my career to making movies. I have directed and written several films which have been distributed worldwide and won many awards, including a Peabody and an Emmy nomination. My latest feature documentary, General Magic, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was the number #1 documentary on iTunes in 2019 and aired on Showtime, National Geographic and Canal +. I am currently working on a short film about the last few days of the tech team at the White House under President Obama and a documentary about a Swedish bakery.
