Even before the pandemic, recruiting and retaining the right care workers was an issue for care providers. That’s why I founded The Care Hub in 2015. As the pandemic took hold, increasing vacancies piled extra pressure on already stretched care teams and worse, the people that needed high-quality care were at risk of being let down. Back in 2019, I asked ‘how best can I help care providers in this pandemic? Can I free up their valuable time to make room for the new, critical tasks being asked of them?’ Talking to care business owners, I learned that while our renowned ATS worked well for them, it was no longer the most important ‘thing’. Owners needed a partner to take all the ‘admin-pain’ away entirely, in a one-stop-shop operation working alongside them, their Registered Manager or in-house recruiter. Everyone needed more time for all the other things they were responsible for, including, and just as importantly their own wellbeing. So I set about stripping out unnecessary complexity and 'on-cost' to build new service options based on care providers’ business models and ambition. All aim to reduce the stress of permanent recruitment, speed up team onboarding and free up care leaders to focus on delivering great care. In April 2020, I onboarded the first home care provider onto the new service. In just nine months, together we grew headcount by 29% and revenue by 20% (compared to zero growth in the previous 12 months.) I was so struck by the impact our new service was having on our clients, we changed our name from The Care Hub to Purpletribe in June 2021, to spotlight the skills of our and our clients’ teams (rather than just the software). We’re all in awe of the work done by all care teams and want to help care providers recognise, grow, reward and retain their people. Despite the current workforce crisis, Purpletribe continues to recruit care workers for its partner clients. And we continue to innovate to match the times.
