Shannon Liao was most recently a staff writer at The Washington Post covering video games. Prior to joining The Post, Liao was a games reporter at CNN Business, profiling the CEO of Epic Games, breaking industry scoops around business and tech, and contributing the occasional article to other sections. She has also been a tech and culture reporter at the Verge covering general tech news, Chinese internet culture, cryptocurrency and the intersection between internet culture, gaming and politics. While at the Verge, she was on Vox Media's board for the Asian American employee resource group. Additionally, she has published articles at Out Magazine, Shondaland.com and Polygon's League of Legends website Rift Herald. A native New Yorker, Liao has appeared on CNBC, Cheddar, CGTN, Al Jazeera, Verge's YouTube channel, the ''MinnMax Show'' and has been a guest on various radio stations and at speaking events discussing the games and tech industries.
