As International Health (IH) Chief Operating Officer and a member of the IH Senior Leadership Team, Somesh oversees Total Health & Network, including Clinical and Global Delivery Systems, Data & Analytics, Information Technology and Service Operations, and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of globally relevant, affordable, quality care across all IH segments. Somesh is a seasoned professional with rich and diverse experience, having served more than 24 years in strategy, sales & operations, management consulting and technology across the health care, insurance, banking and IT/ITES industries. Before joining Cigna in late 2022, Somesh was the CEO Employee Benefits, Domestic Markets across AXA’s key markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In his six years at AXA Group, he held key management positions like COO of Global Business Line Health, Chief Health Officer for Europe & Latin America and Business Head of Digital Health for the AXA Group. Prior to his tenure with AXA, Somesh served as the COO, Chief Quality Officer and Principal Officer of Bupa’s business in India, Max Bupa. Under his leadership, Max Bupa made significant progress on service excellence, redefining key customer service milestones and strengthening its health care partnership agenda. Somesh has also held leadership positions in leading corporates such as McKinsey, Religare, Computer Sciences Corporation and Tata Consultancy Services. Somesh combines multisector expertise with a strong people focus. He has been conferred leadership awards for IT and for Innovation in Service Quality for setting new service excellence benchmarks in the insurance sector through innovative use of technology and a customer centric approach. Somesh is a regular speaker at various industry forums and institutions including business school HEC, Paris Descartes University, the Global Health Insurance Conference and the World Economic Forum. He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication from Bangalore University and currently resides in London, U.K.
