Bio

Sonya is an advocate for positive, inclusive communities and serves as Head of Programming at AWE (Augmented World Expo). She was the first seated player in the VR League and the first female player to advance to regionals in North America. In 2019, Sonya founded VR Community Builders, a community-driven group focused on outreach. She believes immersive technology can have positive impacts on healthcare, education, mental health, business and other aspects of our lives. This work has led to interviews by Intel and the Washington Post, among other publications. Sonya has written 8 books and lives in Southeast Tennessee.
