I acknowledge all our mob, PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE & BEYOND of our land Australia, as the oldest living culture in the World. I, Terry Wickey represent the YUIN/WIRADJURI tribes of NSW as a former representative in rugby league and rugby union, having experienced and played with the St George Dragons and Cronulla, I have been associated with the sport for more than 20 years. This has empowered me to establish an Indigenous mentoring program for Indigenous athletes. My roles are as a mentor and community youth worker in the Indigenous community. I'm very passionate and committed about the opportunities in any sports for Indigenous youth, and to educate all to embrace Aboriginal culture with respect. RAINBOW SERPENT DREAMING INDIGENOUS CORPORATION is about IDENTITY, EMPOWERMENT, HEALING, RESPECT and most of all CULTURE. Its purpose is to create opportunities for elite Indigenous youth to better adapt to the professionalism of sport, to challenge cultural adversities to be strong competitors at the professional level. While playing rugby league with various clubs around NSW and NT, the experience has given me the necessary skills and industry experience to assist elite young sports people, on all levels: to stay on the right track to pursue their dream to be a successful professional athlete. Since retiring, I have been working in the areas of mental health, youth diversion, drug/alcohol substance abuse and cultural identity healing. I’m a community leader in local team sports co-ordination and cultural awareness. I have a strong network of sports professional's past and present that will be role models to provide advice and stories about their experiences: how they became professional athletes and what inspired them to achieve their goals and keep them on the right track to better adapt the cultural challenges of creating IDENTITY, to succeed both on and off the field.
