An experienced Cyber Security practitioner and leader, with a focus on security operations, threat intelligence and incident management. A career forged with the British Intelligence Services and a founding member of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), I have over a decade and a half’s experience at the heart of the UK Governments response to Top Tier Cyber Security Threats, with operational experience against APT and criminal Ransomware gangs alike. I’m a regular public speaker, including presenting plenary sessions at the inaugural SANS Cyber Threat conference, track sessions at the NCSC’s CyberUK conference and was the first publicly avowed member of GCHQ to present at the Cheltenham Science Festival. With early exposure to leadership via time served as a British Army reservist, including work with cadet groups as an Adult Instructor, I’ve spent the majority of my career in a leadership role, currently proving business, technical and operational leadership to a 100-strong, globally distributed analyst team. This has been further diversified with over 5-years spent in NED, CFO and CISO-like roles as a member of a local School’s Governing Board. Finally, I’m a big supporter and champion to the diversification of the cyber security community, with the encouragement of the next generation of Cyber Security talent and providing technical leadership to national campaigns, such as the NCSC’s CyberFirst Girls competition.
