After earning his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Travis started his professional career as an electrical project engineer for local power generation plants and quickly learned how to comfortably communicate with leadership, peers, and performance levels both in the office and the field. These skills transferred smoothly into a role with electrical distribution standards where he gained the knowledge and experience required to confidently understand the traditional utility model. From there he became passionately engaged in the paradigm shift caused by technology and DER that disrupts the traditional utility model. As an innovative DER interconnection engineer for Xcel Energy, Travis has demonstrated expertise in translating technical concepts into actionable plans and understandable concepts. Most of his time is spent on setting precedencies, pioneering DER standards and guidelines, and trailblazing the most ambitious electrical grid transformations in history.
