As a passionate entrepreneur, researcher, author and public speaker, I have dedicated my career to addressing climate change and increasing awareness about the vast benefits of sustainability and low carbon living within our cities, schools, businesses and personal lives. I founded ClimateClever in 2018, a climate-tech startup, which has a suite of apps that help communities (schools, homes and businesses) to reduce their carbon footprint and save money on their utility bills. The aim of their platform is to create a network of climate champions who are leading the way in creating a low carbon future. Previously, I worked as an academic/research fellow at Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute for over 10 years, lecturing on Climate Policy and Decarbonisinging Cities. I supervised numerous PhD students and worked on various research projects around low carbon cities, renewable energy and decarbonising schools. My PhD was on Low Carbon Urban Development and I have published a book on Decarbonising Cities with my colleague Professor Peter Newman. I started my entrepreneurial journey by co-founding SimplyCarbon and Rate My Space with my long term colleague and friend Dr Samantha Hall. I’m active within the start-up community in Perth and am passionate about social enterprises and impact businesses. I am a Founding Board Director and Co-Chair of WA Social Enterprise Council (WASEC), which aims to foster this sector in WA.
