Bio

Vasileios Koutsos holds a Chair in Soft Materials and Surfaces at the Institute for Materials and Processes (IMP), School of Engineering, The University of Edinburgh. Formerly a Marie Curie Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Condensed Matter Physics in Collège de France (Paris, France, 1998-2000), he completed a BSc in Physics (Physics Department, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) in 1992 and a PhD in Polymer Science (Chemistry Department & Materials Science Centre, University of Groningen) in 1997. VK's main research interests include the following themes: Surface Engineering, Polymer Coatings, Adhesion, Tribology, Mechanics of Materials with emphasis on Soft Materials (Polymers, Rubbers, Colloids and Nanocolloids), Polymer Composites and Nanocomposites, Contact Mechanics.
