Bio

I am an Public and Occupational Health Physician with more than 15 years experience. My clinic is located in the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) in Kuala Lumpur. I have obtained the first ICOH-ILO Master Fellowship in 2015 and completed the Master of Occupational Safety and Health from the ILO-ITC/Turin University in Italy with distinction in 2017. I have been involved in various research projects, including being part of the multi-national research project; the CUPID (Cultural and Psychosocial Influences on Disability). The study was led by the Medical Research Council Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit, the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, and involves researchers from 18 countries. I have been involved in 17 research projects with a grant value of USD600 thousand, and 11 consultancy projects with Malaysian Government Agencies and the private sectors. My research interest includes Worksite wellness, Musculoskeletal Disorders, Ergonomics, Health Risk Assessment, Evidence-Based Medicine and Systematic Reviews. Besides research I am also a technology enthusiast who has been meddling with computers programming since BASIC, and now programmes in visual basic and php, as a hobby and to create websites and programmes to simplify my work as a clinician and teacher. In teaching, I have been using technology to enhance teaching since 2004, which started as posting using HTML, and now have migrated to Moodle and MOOC (http://www.openlearning.com/u/victorhoe) I am currently managing websites, for my Department (http://spm.um.edu.my), and three professional associations using the WordPress platform. Besides the websites, I also managed their social media engagement. I am the Council Member for AOEMM and CPHM-AMM, an Executive Member for MMA Willayah and APACPH, and the ICOH National Secretary for Malaysia.
