“What will you be when you grow up?” was always such a baffling question to me as a child. I was good with numbers, good with words, good with people, and I knew that I wanted to do some good in the world — but that criteria never seemed overly helpful. Ever the curious child, I expressed a desire to be everything from a waitress to a journalist to an FBI agent to a lawyer to an advertiser to a talk show host to a psychologist and beyond. In school I captained the Model Judiciary team and studied pre-med, thinking I’d improve lives either through the power of words or science. As it turned out, the black-and-white nature of the law and my queasiness at the sight of blood quickly eliminated both these options from the running. Luckily, just as I came to terms with the fact that I didn’t want to spend my life in a suit or a lab coat, I stumbled into design thinking and brand strategy work—and it was love at first brainstorm. What I came to realize was that all my contemplated paths as a child had shared a few things in common: a penchant for keen observation, asking lots of questions, separating fact from fiction, collecting and telling stories, and offering nuanced solutions that helped people achieve their goals. The world of experience design embodied just that. So now, as a “grown up”, that’s where I play. Nearly every day, I combine my creativity and analytical skills, strategic mindset and detail orientation, and psychology and business backgrounds. I lead teams to understand and anticipate people’s needs, workflows, motivations, and frustrations—especially the unarticulated ones (that tends to be where the magic happens). Then, I collaborate with them to craft holistic, context-aware solutions that address the realities we’ve uncovered. In doing so, I help make people’s lives a little (and sometimes a lot!) better, while helping organizations increase their impact and bottom line. ________________ Some past clients include: C-SPAN | Hilton Worldwide | 23andMe | Gap Inc. | Facebook | Sallie Mae | National Guard | NASDAQ | Urban Land Institute | Nikon | Global Business Travel Association | CFPB | Amtrak | PwC | USA Today | Department of Veterans Affairs | FDIC | NIST | Citizens Bank | Various nonprofits & startups Specialties include: Design Strategy | UX & CX Leadership | Behavioral Science | Content Design | Mixed-Methods Research | Service Design | Creative Strategy | UX Writing | Copyediting | Brand Storytelling | Experimentation | Information Architecture | Usability | Interaction Design | Product Strategy | Innovation
