CEO| Change Agent What is an association leader? It’s someone who is a systems-thinking professional who designs associations to fulfill their strategic plan while optimizing all organizational parts to maximize the whole and eliminate internal silos. That’s where I come in: I’m a strategic guide using data-driven insights to design long-term roadmaps and evolve organizations into continuously-improving best-in-class operations. I understand the interdependence of departments and how to create synergy within organizations; I can break away from silos and resolve internal competitiveness to get everyone on the same page - championing the mission. But I cannot do it alone. Over my career, I have always seen success as a team effort, and take the time to understand board/membership needs and interests as critical to guiding the development of the organization. As a result, I have cultivated an approach as an open, transparent leader with a genuine ability to connect to stakeholders and authentically connect their motivations and interests to organizational mission. Additionally, I embody a high-touch focus, which means being frequently out in the field cultivating member and event attendee connections. Getting everyone on board and working together means building support and organizational buy-in through frequent public presentations, listening tours, task forces, and focus groups to capture ideas and feedback. I bring clarity of purpose combined with a financially-astute, bottom-line focus to make fiscal and change management decisions based on long-term benefits and as well as benefit to organization. This requires being a calculated risk taker who proactively watches trends and contributing economic factors to identify potential issues and / opportunities. Working for the greater good in non-profit businesses has always inspired me. Member driven associations are perfect for my world view and I enjoy and feel fulfilled by helping others.
