After a decade as a senior editor at Forbes, Zack moved to Substack, where he's authoring a weekly music business newsletter and serializing his fifth book, ''We Are All Musicians Now''. His other books include the Jay-Z biography ''Empire State of Mind,'' re-released by Penguin Random House in 2021, and ''A-List Angels: How a Band of Actors, Artists and Athletes Hacked Silicon Valley,'' published in 2020 by Little, Brown. His work has also appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Billboard, Sports Illustrated, Vibe, McSweeney's and the Library of Congress. A former child actor, he played the title role in the film ''Lorenzo's Oil'' (1992) and arrived at Forbes in 2007 after graduating from Yale with an American Studies degree.
