Bio

This is the story about my journey from an intelligence agency to the commercial world and finally to the founding of CYFIRMA. Landed in one of the world’s most admired national intelligence agencies in my early 20s, my cybersecurity skills were tested as I seized the opportunity to work and learn with the best in the field of military intelligence. During my decade with the agency, I have led teams in counterterrorism and cyber-intelligence, witnessing what it takes to win cyber wars. Moving into the commercial world, I saw the dire state of cybersecurity amongst businesses. The more technology we introduced into the environment, the more risk and exposure the organization would face. Adding more tools and security controls only served to complicate matters. It became clear to me the business world was looking at cybersecurity the wrong way. The focus on layered defense without a thorough understanding of the external threat landscape would send teams on nonstop tactical missions and miss the truly critical threat. I knew the solution lies in using advanced intelligence fuelled by external threat visibility to manage security controls, and only then would we be adequately equipped to stay ahead of cyber adversaries. Cybersecurity should not be a ‘good-to-have’, it should take its rightful place as a core business enabler, fulfilling the promise of delivering tangible outcomes for organizations of all sizes. And that led to the founding of CYFIRMA and the world’s first external threat landscape management platform, DeCYFIR, was born. Today, I harness my experience as a cybersecurity practitioner, a technology buyer, an innovator and a business leader to help many Fortune 500 companies build stronger cyber postures. Overseeing CYFIRMA's business strategy, product roadmap and expansion plan, my team and I want to put DeCYFIR into the hands of many more defenders and do our part to allow digital businesses to thrive.
