I am not your typical insurance salesperson. For the last fourteen years i've been part of teams pioneering agriculture insurance, first with the award winning program Kilimo Salama, of the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture and now with Pula, an award winning InsureTech. At Pula I lead a team that develops and implements data driven financial solutions that assist millions of small-scale farmers across 16 countries in Africa and Asia, safeguarding their crops and allowing farmers to invest in their farms through financial tools that take advantage of the rising use of mobile technology. I grew up in Tanzania but now call Nairobi home. I have a Master’s degree with Distinction from the University of London and am a Poptech and Mulago Social Innovation Fellow and have spoken at TED about the impact and potential of agriculture insurance.
