Bio

Suzanne is the Vice-President of Product Management, Chief Privacy Officer, and global steward of the security, privacy, user safety and trust of over 3B users of Android, Play, and Chrome. She is also the Product Lead for Google's overall efforts in Africa. With over 25 years of experience leading advanced technology product design and engineering, driving and delivering significant technical transformations across highly complex intra-agency, organizational and geopolitical constructs, and pioneering Internet policies that have laid the foundations for safety, trust, economic development, privacy, security, global health, and human rights online, Suzanne thrives at the intersection where technology meets the world to elevate everyone’s potential, everywhere. Suzanne just started her 16th year at Google where she’s played a wide variety of leadership roles across product, policy, engineering, infrastructure, and operations. Prior to Google, she spent a decade enabling the mobile and broadband revolutions globally through the development and deployment of advanced infrastructure, systems, and operations. Suzanne has lived and/or worked in over 40 countries (traveled for fun to many more), led organizations in the thousands, and innovated and delivered across the breadth of constraints and capacities globally. She has witnessed firsthand the significant positive impacts that technology can have and has committed her career to serving the world safely, at scale, and with equity. Suzanne received her BA from Wellesley College and her MBA from MIT where she was also a Sloan Fellow and research assistant for the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR). During her time at MIT, she co-led a World Bank award-winning safe water and sanitation program in concert with the UN, the Red Cross, and a number of local agencies in Nepal and India. Suzanne serves on the Board of Directors for The Motley Fool and the Board of Trustees for Wellesley College where she chairs the Audit Committees for both. In addition, she has served on academic boards and leadership councils for both MIT and Wellesley. She is conversant in Spanish (advanced) and French (intermediate) with basic skills in Hindi and Portuguese as well. Suzanne is a member of the Council for Foreign Relations and has been twice-shortlisted as a candidate for senior roles reporting to the Secretary-General of the UN. Suzanne is an active advocate for STEM education, innovation, and the power of diversity. She is also a founding member of Google's global Women@ Leadership organization.
